Portrait Procedure:
Once a client has made the decision to commission a portrait,
the agreement will specify the number of subjects, size, price
and completion date. Signing of the agreement and a
deposit of 50% of the total price is required. A meeting with
the subjects to be painted is scheduled.
The composition, size, location, pose, format, type of clothing,
background tone and lighting are all considered. Approximately
50-150 photographs are taken, followed by a life study of
the head in oil or pastel, should time allow for it.
Photographs are analyzed and a final decision is made as
to pose and tone of the painting. If necessary, additional
photographs can be taken at a second photo sitting.
Upon 75% completion of the portrait, a meeting is scheduled
for the client's approval and a second payment of 30% is due.
At time of completion of the portrait, the balance is due.
Time from the photographic session to delivering of the portrait
is approximately 3-6 months. The Artist will assist
in frame selection if required.
